After finishing my schooling days, I was a nobody, and the same client said to me I had a face that belonged on television. She then introduced me to a casting agent that she knows.
Manaka Ranaka's first audition landed her a very devious role of a person who was a former prostitute, and after a few months of her acting career, she then fell pregnant and was unfortunately fired by producers, and she was replaced.
In 2002, she landed a role in a soapie called Gaz'lam where she had to portray an HIV-positive character named Portia. She was so good at the role that she stayed until the soapie ended three years later.
She got a lot of experience in the acting industry, although not formally being trained. She then later won a Golden Horn award at the South African Film Awards for her role as Lerato in the Stokvel Comedy Show.
Now, from 2014 to the Present, she has been starring as Lucy Diale in the famous South African soapie Generations: The Legacy. She acts as a gangster, threatens people, owns a shebeen, and she's based in Alex, and that is the role she will be remembered as.
