Muvhango shuts down after 27 years-TVSA

 

Dear valued readers and Muvhango enthusiasts,

It saddens us deeply to bring you this news so abruptly and unexpectedly. This month, for the first time in TVSA history, there have been no Muvhango teasers.

Despite our requests to the SABC, the teasers were unavailable, and the show's Twitter account was inactive throughout June. The cast has also been on an extended break, and each time we reached out for information, we received no updates. Yesterday, TVSA member Sulaiman Isaacs shared that the latest season would conclude this week, consisting of only 130 episodes.

We've been seeking answers from both the SABC and the show's production company, Word of Mouth Pictures, but we received no clear response until tonight, July 2. Thanduxolo Jindela, a spokesperson for Word of Mouth, informed TVSA that the show has been discontinued, and the final episode airs tonight.

This sudden end is heartbreaking for such a long-running and beloved show. We share in your sorrow if this affects you. Earlier this year, we mentioned that the latest season of Generations faced uncertainties but was eventually resolved. Unfortunately, the negotiations for a new season of Muvhango have not been successful. We will keep you informed as we learn more.
