Duma Ndlovu, a distinguished producer, is experiencing a streak of notable successes. Recently, he launched his new drama series Queen Modjadji, and is now excited about the return of Muvhango on SABC2. After a lengthy break that left the cast and crew unsure of the show's fate, filming for the 26th season of South Africa’s cherished Tshivenda telenovela is underway, as reported by City Press.

The hiatus was due to ongoing negotiations between the show's producers and SABC, the public broadcaster. Although the exact reasons for the delay in contract renewal were not officially disclosed, there were rumors that the show might be canceled. Fortunately, these rumors have been dispelled as the team begins a new season.

Since July 3, SABC2 has been broadcasting reruns of Muvhango to celebrate the 30th anniversary of South African democracy. This initiative has allowed longtime viewers to revisit some of the show's most iconic episodes while they await new content.

An unveiling event is scheduled to take place in Fourways, Johannesburg, marking a new era for Muvhango. The event will be hosted by popular content creator Alphi Sipho and Muvhango star Innocentia Manchidi, who plays Rendani Mukwevho. This event will highlight the show's transformation, blending its rich legacy with contemporary narratives.

The revamped Muvhango will carry the tagline “Muvhango Lives On,” and will feature a new logo, an updated opening sequence, and the introduction of new characters and storylines. A notable new addition to the cast is acclaimed actress Leleti Khumalo, who will portray Dr. Nonhlanhla Ximba. Khumalo expressed her excitement about joining the series, saying, “I am honored to be part of such a beloved show and look forward to bringing something special to this role.”

Duma Ndlovu has shared his vision for the show's renewal, stating, “Muvhango Lives On signifies a new beginning and a celebration of the show’s heritage. We are committed to preserving our roots while embracing change, and we are eager to present a Muvhango that reflects the vibrant and diverse stories of contemporary South Africa.”

Jacqui Hlongwane, the head of SABC2, voiced the channel’s ongoing support for Muvhango during this transformative period. “The show has been a cornerstone of our programming, and we are excited about the new energy and engaging stories that Muvhango will bring to our viewers.”

As the new season approaches, fans are eager to see what lies ahead, although the official premiere date has not been announced. With Duma Ndlovu at the helm and a talented cast ready to captivate audiences, the future of Muvhango looks promising. The series is set not just to return but to thrive in its new chapter.
