New Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that Gaston Sirino, formerly a winger for Mamelodi Sundowns, is among the potential signings being considered for the team.

Nabi, who recently faced his first loss with the Chiefs—a 4-0 defeat to Young Africans SC in the Toyota Cup on Sunday—acknowledged that the squad needs further improvement. However, he refrained from specifying which positions he aims to strengthen.

In a recent statement to SuperSport TV, Nabi confirmed that Sirino is under consideration. He remarked, “Among the names we’re evaluating, Sirino is definitely on the list. He’s a highly experienced player and we want to assess if he’s physically fit and how he might fit into our strategy.”

Sirino, now 33, was one of four players released by Sundowns when their contracts expired on June 30. It is believed that he wishes to continue his career in South Africa. During his time with Sundowns, which began in January 2018, Sirino made 202 appearances, scoring 41 goals and providing 44 assists. He has also won 12 trophies with the club, including seven DStv Premiership titles.
