Stephan Aziz Ki of Young Africans has been named the Tanzania Premier League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) following a grand awards ceremony in Masaki, Dar es Salaam on Thursday night. The award was handed to him by Mr. Grayson Msigwa, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports, along with other dignitaries.

In addition to the MVP accolade, Aziz Ki was also honored with the Best Midfielder award and the Golden Boot for his impressive 21 goals during the 2023/24 season. His closest rival, Feisal Salum Abdallah, scored 19 goals. Aziz Ki also took top honors in the CRDB Federation Cup, being named both Best Player and Best Midfielder.

Young Africans dominated the event, with Ibrahim Hamad ‘Bacca’ securing the Best Defender title in the NBC Premier League. Coastal Union’s goalkeeper Ley Matampi won the Golden Gloves, with Djigui Diara (Yanga) and Ayoub Lakred (Simba) as runners-up.

The Best Goal of the Season was awarded to Kipre Junior of Azam FC, while Mtibwa Sugar was recognized as the Best Disciplined Team, despite their relegation. In the women’s league, Aisha Mnunka of Simba Queens claimed the Golden Boot with 20 goals.

Aisha Masaka, who recently signed with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL), and Mbwana Samatta were named the Best Female and Male Players abroad, respectively. Mzize won the Golden Boot for the CRDB Federation Cup, and Young Africans’ coach Miguel Gamondi was honored as the Best Coach in the NBC Premier League.
